#TBT: Throwing it back to being part of an unforgettable event with an incredible team! Earlier this year, I had the honor of working on the Reclaim The Dream Candlelight Memorial Service and Gospel Concert, held at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. This annual event, now in its 19th year, commemorated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. It brought together a diverse community to reflect on his vision of justice, equality, and civil rights while reigniting hope and unity.
A Rewarding Experience in Event Marketing & Management

From the moment I was involved, it was clear that this event would be special. I worked on everything from developing marketing materials and sponsorship proposal decks to managing the behind-the-scenes logistics—a truly rewarding experience. It was a unique opportunity to contribute to something bigger than myself, alongside the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation (MLKEDC), City of Miami Commission Chairwoman Christine King, and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Keon Hardemon.
One of the most moving moments was the candlelight vigil, where attendees united in solidarity, holding their candles high in remembrance of Dr. King's lasting influence. We also enjoyed inspiring Gospel performances from renowned artists such as Tamala Mann and Hezekiah Walker, which filled the room with a spirit of hope and empowerment. These performances, combined with the powerful message of the event, reminded us of the strength we can find in solidarity and the importance of continuing the fight for equality.
The Vision Behind the Event
The Reclaim The Dream Candlelight Memorial is more than just a memorial service—it's a call to action. It provides an opportunity for everyone to renew their commitment to civil rights and take steps toward fostering unity and equity in our communities. The ongoing efforts of MLKEDC, through initiatives like Wheels to Work, are helping to make tangible differences in the lives of low-income residents, offering essential transportation services and empowering families to access vital resources.
